Renowned Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has made one different achievement as her documentary ‘Freedom Fighters’ has bagged a nomination on the 41st Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards for ‘Best Feature Story in a News Magazine’.

Freedom Fighters has earlier obtained Best Short Documentary at Tallgrass Film Festival. Winners of the notifications shall be launched on September 21 in a web-based ceremony.

Documentary ‘Freedom Fighters’ contains a story of three brave women: a former child bride, a police officer, and a labor crusader who’re elevating their voices in opposition to inequality.

It has been co-directed by Maheen Sadiq whereas produced by SOC Films for the Center for Investigative Journalism. This documentary was part of a documentary sequence by way of which 4 female filmmakers created motion pictures about options for ladies empowerment.

Chinoy talked about that these subjects spark troublesome conversations and make people uncomfortable: “Change only comes about when people are forced to discuss an issue.”
