At least 50 people have reportedly died as a gold mine collapsed near Kamituga inside the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. A neighborhood mining NGO reported the data.

Emiliano Itongwa, president of the Initiative of Support and Social Supervision of Women, reported that the mine collapsed on the

Detroit mine web page on Friday afternoon (native time) after heavy rains.

Photos and films of Hundreds of people are going viral. Some of the oldsters may be heard crying on a hillside throughout the mine-shaft entrance.

Mining accidents are reported additional sometimes in Congo, with many casualties.

Earlier in June 2019, sixteen people died on account of a landslide at a disused gold mine. 

While 43 illegal miners died in a single different landslide at a copper and cobalt mine.
