KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), has made a sudden soar in airfares for Saudi Arabia.
The one-way fare from Karachi to Jeddah, Madinah, or Dammam is elevated to Rs. 127,000 whereas the fare from Lahore, Islamabad, or Peshawar to Jeddah and Madinah is elevated to Rs. 133,000.
The one-way fare from Lahore, Islamabad, or Peshawar to Riyadh and Dammam appreciated to 131,000. Earlier, the fare from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia was 84,000.
PIA has educated all its journey brokers regarding the new fares.
PIA sources acknowledged the fare hike was due to the Saudi authorities leaving 25 p.c seats vacant on flights ensuing from Coronavirus.
Note that, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will perform flights to Saudi Arabia from tomorrow.
The flight will depart from Lahore and Islamabad for Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, PIA had begun reserving for Saudi Arabia with permission from September 15.
PIA will use 777 and Airbus 320 airplane for Saudi Arabia, PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan acknowledged.
Due to the PIA code, it was restricted to 23 flights each week. Due to the massive rush on bookings, PIA has sought permission from the Saudi administration for 28 additional flights after which flight operations may be expanded.
The nationwide airline will perform 23 weekly flights to Saudi Arabia. PIA officers have requested the Saudi authorities to allow 26 flights each week. Initially, PIA will perform flights to some Saudi cities, Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh.
It must be well-known that Saudi Arabia has lastly resumed worldwide flight operations, which had been suspended for better than six months due to the unfolding of the coronavirus.
